When we meet for the first time, I will spend time getting to know you. Together we will choose the treatment that is right for you.

Evidence Based Treatments for PTSD

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT is designed to help people recover from PTSD. CPT focuses on helping you process difficult memories in a structured and safe way. This treatment involves writing and reflection, and noticing your own stuck points. In choosing CPT, you will have an opportunity to take stock of how the trauma has impacted your life, and how you want to shape your life moving forward. CPT is comprised of 12 sessions that are 50 minutes each.

Prolonged Exposure (PE)

PE takes an active and thoughtful stepwise approach to treating PTSD. PE focuses on helping you rebuild your life through taking action. By talking through your experiences in session, you have the opportunity to train your brain and body to think in new ways. Along with the support of Dr. Ruth, you will work to challenge any avoidance habits you have built by practicing activities you used to enjoy. PE is comprised of 10 sessions that are 75 minutes each.

Evidence Based Treatments for Insomnia and Nightmares

For many folks with a history of trauma, sleep problems are chronic. When we can’t sleep, it can seem like every aspect of our life is impacted. Fortunately, very effective treatments are available to help improve sleep quality and consistency.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

CBT-I is designed to help people struggling with insomnia. Insomnia is a naturally occurring response our body has to times of stress and change. For some people, insomnia becomes a chronic issue that significantly impacts quality of life. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends CBT-I as the best course of treatment for insomnia, even compared to medication. CBT-I uses a structured and behavioral approach to helping your body reset it’s sleep cycle. I will work closely with you to personalize your sleep schedule to you every week, slowly moving your body back into healthier sleep. CBT-I is comprised of 8 sessions that are 50 minutes each.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares (CBT-N)

CBT-N is designed to help people with recurrent nightmares. Nightmares that wake us up from sleep can be very disruptive and upsetting. CBT-N uses a collaborative approach where clients have the opportunity to process their nightmares in therapy so that their minds can rest at night. CBT-N is comprised of 6 sessions that are 50 minutes each.
